Introduction

Genesis 1:1-3 (NIV)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

Our beginnings are described in the opening chapter of the book of Genesis, its first three verses taking us up to God’s creation of light. If read a certain way, these same words give rise to a dazzling burst of encoded numbers that cast a brilliant new light on the text of the NIV Bible.

An ELS Encoding in Genesis 1:1 (NIV)

Genesis 1:1 - 3 (NIV)
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

At eight letter intervals, the letters ‘g’, ‘o’ and ‘d’ can be seen. If we now chop up the text into eight-letter rows, placed below each other, we obtain the following perfect little equidistant-letter-sequence (ELS) code, which appears to encapsulate the Christian message:

This is the second possible example of an ELS code I have shown , the first being found in The Signature Of Christ. In contrast to the alphanumerical codes on which the New Bible Code is substantially based, ELS codes are hidden within the text by separating their constituent letters from each other, rendering them undetectable to the reader of the text. The message can only be decoded by knowing the number of letters (the ‘skip interval’) between each encoded letter. As in the previous example, the skip interval is part of the code itself. The three eights imply 888, the standard value of the Greek word transliterated as ‘Ihsous’:

‘Ihsous’ is the English translation of the English name ‘Jesus’, so the code appears to be telling us that ‘God’ and ‘Jesus’ are synonymous!

‘God’ in Genesis 1:1 - 3 (NIV)

Genesis 1:1 - 3 (NIV)
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

The word 'God' is found three times in the first three verses of Genesis. Three is of course the number that best represents God’s triune nature. As would befit the importance of the word we use to name our Creator, it seems to have been positioned to encode further numbers.

1. Position Within Each Verse

The position of the word 'God' within each of the first three verses is as follows. 'God' is word 4 in Gen 1:1, word 20 in Gen 1:2 and word 2 in Gen 1:3.

4 + 20 + 2 .............= 26
God (o) .................= 26

2. Absolute Position

The position of the word 'God' counting from the beginning of the prologue, is as follows. 'God' in Gen 1:1 is word 4 from the beginning. 'God' in Gen 1:2 is word 30 from the beginning. 'God' in Gen 1:3 is word 37 from the beginning.

4 + 30 + 37 ............= 71
God (s) ..................= 71

3. Position of God in Genesis 1:1

The number of letters to ‘God’ in Genesis 1:1, the first time the word is given, is 17.

God (r) ....................= 17

Here we see the very numerical values obtained when the word ‘God’ is numerated under the three systems of alphabetic numeration on which the New Bible Code is based! This appears to be a kind of watermark, confirming the authenticity of the New Bible Code.

4. Absolute Position of the individual letters.

The positions of the individual letters of the word 'God' from the beginning are given below.

G, o, d in Gen 1:1 are letters 15, 16, and 17
G, o, d in Gen 1:2 are letters 124, 125, 126
G, o, d in Gen 1:3 are letters 154, 155, 156

‘Ihsous’ is the Greek rendering of the word ‘Jesus’! Again, the code appears to be telling us that the names ‘God’ and ‘Jesus’ refer to the same being!

Genesis 1 (NIV) - Three Eighteen-Word Strings

Genesis is also the site of three eighteen-word strings whose ordinal values are the standard values of commonly-used names and titles for Jesus Christ. These begin at Genesis 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3. 18 is 3 x 6, and these encodings also continue the ‘six’ theme which is the hallmark of other encodings at this location—see The Signature Of Christ.

1. Eighteen-word string from Genesis 1:1

Genesis 1:1-2 (NIV): first 18 words
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness...

This represents the outer ring of the Creation Snowflake.

2. Eighteen-word string from Genesis 1:2

Genesis 1:2 (NIV): first 18 words
2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit...

18 word string from Genesis 1:2 (o) ........= 912
The Lord Jesus (s) .................................. = 912

3. Eighteen-word string from Genesis 1:3

Genesis 1:3 (NIV): first 18 words
3. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good...

18 word string from Genesis 1:3 (o) ......= 699
Lord Jesus (s) ................................... . ..= 699

Four Signatures in The Bible’s First Four Books

The books of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus and Numbers are the first four books of the Bible itself and form the bulk of the Pentateuch (the five books of Moses). In the NIV Bible, the first verse of each of these four books is encoded with numbers that reveal a divine signature. Note that each number is encoded over the first twelve words of each book. In biblical numerics twelve is the number of perfect government, as shown by God leading the twelve tribes of Israel and Jesus choosing twelve disciples.

First Signature

Genesis 1:1 - 2 (NIV): first 12 words
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2. Now the...

1st 12 words of Genesis (o) ...........= 515
Jesus (s) .........................................= 515

Second Signature

Exodus 1:1 (NIV)

1.These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family.

1st 12 words of Exodus (o) .................= 515
Jesus (s) ................................. ...........= 515

Third Signature

Leviticus 1:1 (NIV)

1. The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting. he said

1st 12 words of Leviticus (o) .............= 519
Christ (c) .................................. .........= 519

Fourth Signature

Numbers 1:1 (NIV)

1. The Lord spoke to Moses in the Tent of Meeting in the Desert of Sinai on the first day of the second month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said

1st 12 words of Numbers (o) .............= 519
Christ (c) ...................................... ....= 519

So we have two encodings of the standard value of ‘Jesus’, followed by two encodings of the combined value of ‘Christ’. I think this both reflects the overall theme of this website and helps to validate the tentative combined value system of numeration.

Three Signatures in The Bible’s Alpha and Omega Verses

Revelation 1:8 (NIV)
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Perhaps in conscious reflection of these words, the NIV Bible has apparently been authenticated by three numerical signatures: appearing in the first two verses, in the last verse and over the first and last verses. These encodings integrate with others in Genesis and Revelation. Notice that, as usual, every number is extracted using the ordinal value system, but takes on meaning under the standard value system.

First Signature

Genesis 1:1 - 2 (NIV): first 12 words
1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2. Now the...

1st 12 words of Genesis (o) ...........= 515
Jesus (s) .........................................= 515

Second Signature

Revelation 22:21 (NIV): last 9 words
21. ...of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Third Signature

Genesis 1:1 (NIV)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Revelation 22:21 (NIV)
The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Genesis 1:1 + Revelation 22:21 (o) = 430 + 458 = 888

So the NIV Bible’s ‘alpha’ and ‘omega’ verses bear the numerical ‘signature’ of our Saviour in English, Hebrew and Greek. Incredible as it may seem, this version of God’s Word appears to been signed in triplicate by His Son!
